Carnival of Mayhem
Carnival of Mayhem
On Friday the 12th of November 2010 Shoctopus launched their debut EP, 'King of the Mountain', at The Grand Social. The event, Carnival of Mayhem, featured performers, freaks, excessive alcoholic consumption and an awesome show by the band. Not only did the band break the attendance record for the venue, but the Shoctoposse, a horde of raving lunatics who support the band, also broke the bar record (we salute the livers of the Shoctoposse).
Here is a selection of pictures from the event all taken by our official photographer, the incredible Aled. (Click the banner to visit his site)
Even before the main event things were heating up outside.

The Geo Show, aka The Ring Master, welcomed the unsuspecting public. A middle-aged man was later heard to say "I thought it was the circus, I was expecting lions. I enjoyed it none-the-less".

Niamh was on hand to tell some people their fortunes. Shoctopus takes no responsibility for any damages arising from her advice.

The dark magicians were on hand to entertain the crowds. And no, we don't know where that guy went who dissapeared in a puff of smoke, but we heard his flight back from Spain wasn't too expensive.

A freak show for the freaks. A nifty trick for when you are out on the pull, stick the condom down your throat...

... and pull it out of your nose when you need it.

Some people who wanted to be in the Shoctoposse. Shoctopus have submitted applications to the governemnt for finacial aid to help those less fortunate among us who can't even afford the basic necessities, such as a Shoctopus T-shirt.

The calm before the storm. No hint of the madness to come.

The warrior's weapons. Tools of mass destruction.

Some acoustic music to calm the savage beasts and lull the crowd into a false sense of safety.

The Geo Show, in it's alter ego for the night as The Ringmaster, providing some much needed comic relief.

Some bands need an MC to work things up a bit, but we have The Geo Show, always ready to sex things up a bit.

The Pony Girls. Dublin's best in more ways than one.

Some bands have a horse outside, we have Pony Girls inside...

Then onto the main event. Tank and the five strings of musical genius start the ball rolling.

Ripper, aka The Bearded Boy, a one-man beat machine.

A capacity crowd with attendance and bar records broken. THIS IS ROCK AND ROLL!

Some bands try to rock but Shoctopus are ROCK.

The resident philosopher in the band takes a moment to contemplate the meaning of life, the universe and everything, before pounding the crap out of the drum set again.

Cha proves once and for always that his dentist is better than yours. His lungs are not too shabby either.

Everyone can do with a little help from the crowd when they forget the lyrics.

Tank and the bass face that he is currently trying to patent.

It's not easy being a rock god, but someone has to do it.

Tank has no shame. The fondling of the bass guitar, in public and in full view of the crowd.

Sing like you mean it!

The emporer's new clothes...

The band are well known for their impersonations of Cousin It.

Stavis and his guitar, a match made in rock and roll heaven.

Bass solo and a momentary lapse of the famous bass face.

Some serious RAWK.
